Chico high and middle school artists' works featured in virtual show

Creative Fusion is the name of the 17th annual Junior High & High School Art Exhibit. A Zoom awards show takes place Sunday, but the show is virtual.

CHICO, Calif. – The 17th annual Junior High and High School Art Exhibit, Creative Fusion, is taking place on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.

Featured in the gallery of this article are several student artworks that are featured in the show.

Chico Art Center has developed a virtual gallery fofor the popular annual event.

Each year art teachers select the most skilled and expressive artworks by their students and prepares them for exhibition.

On Sunday at 4:00 p.m. a Zoom ceremony will be held to honor the student artists from Pleasant Valley High School, Chico High School, Fair View High School, Inspire School for the Arts, and Chico Junior High.

The exhibition and cash prizes totaling $450 were sponsored by Penny Baxter and Teresa Gisske. There is also a People’s Choice Award.

The organizers quote Pablo Picasso, who said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up!"
