CHICO, Calif. - Two structure fires broke out in Chico around the same time on Friday afternoon, Chico Fire Department said.

Firefighters were dispatched to 15 West Easton Road at 12:42 p.m. when the first report said the building was filling with smoke.

Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke in the building and determined the fire was coming from an air conditioning unit.

While at the scene, another structure fire was reported and a different engine was dispatched to 2586 East 20th Street.

At the scene, firefighters were able to keep the fire in check while additional engines arrived on the scene.

Once additional help was at the scene, firefighters contained the fire by attacking a second-story bedroom.

Both fires are under investigation.
