CHICO, Calif. - Chico Fire and Chico police responded to a house fire at Vallombrosa Circle around 4 a.m.

Smoke was detected in the home around 4 a.m. setting off the smoke alarms inside the home. The two parents woke up from the smell of the smoke, their two children and two dogs all made it out safely with no injuries.

Chico Fire said the fire burned mainly in the kitchen but the house is not liveable at this time, and the cause of the fire is undetermined.

However, the homeowner said they believe that the fire started in-ground due to a solar light and spread to the home.
