Chico burglar suspect arrested in stolen clothes

Chico police arrested a man who ran from them and stole clothes in an attempt to change his appearance to avoid being arrested.

CHICO, Calif. - Chico police arrested a man for allegedly stealing items from a shed near Big Chico Creek, Chico Police Department said.

A resident called Chico police about a man who was refusing to leave her property around 4:04 p.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, 29-year-old Kaleb Shults took off from police and walked down to Big Chico Creek where he undressed to cross the creek.

Chico dispatch received another call from a different resident on the other side of the creek and reported a man was in their yard and took off to another yard.

Police located Shults near the 1600 block of Oak Park Ave. and were able to detain him without further incident.

Police discovered Shults stole clothing from the resident on Oak Park Ave. in an attempt to change his appearance to evade police and apprehension.
