Chico State held a service honoring veterans on campus.

The university's Low Brass Ensemble kicked off the festivities.

The patriotic event included flag salutes, recognition of veterans of all branches of the military, and even a cake cutting ceremony complete with a Marine sword.

The Student Veteran Organization began at Chico State 50 years ago. Those on campus who have served appreciate the comradery.

Nearly a hundred people from the school and the local community were on hand for the ceremony.

Dry conditions, warmer temperatures, and gusty north winds will drive high fire danger and a Red Flag Warning across most of northern California Monday. Winds will diminish and temperatures will warm up on Tuesday. We'll stay dry and heat up later this week. Cooler temperatures then return for your weekend.
