CHICO, Calif. - The 100th anniversary of the Chico Rotary Club is being celebrated with a big community park-building effort.

The Rotarians are working with Chico Area Recreation District (CARD) and the City of Chico to build what will be called Rotary Centennial Park.

The location is Ceres Avenue and Whitewood Way on the north end of the City of Chico.

The park is close to five acres in size.

The Rotarians are planting 65 trees and 500 shrubs. And of course, the playgrounds will be fun for kids to enjoy.

This weekend more than 115 Rotarians showed up for a workday.

It will take approximately five more weeks to complete the park project.

We had beautiful weather around northern California on Friday with sunshine and more warmth. Saturday will also be fantastic, so get out and enjoy it! A welcome change to our very dry weather pattern is coming soon.
