On December 21st and 22nd Chico Police Department partnered with the CSU Chico Police Department, Butte County Probation, Butte County Sheriff’s Department, and the Butte County District Attorney's Office for a proactive theft enforcement detail.
The detail focused on those who are currently on probation for theft and burglary related crimes and proactive contacts with suspected criminals on the streets. Also, two theft sting operations were conducted with the use of a "bait car" in the City of Chico parking structure next to the Hotel Diamond and a "bait package" at a residence in an area with high package thefts.
The following is a breakdown of charges within the 11 arrests made during the operational period:
6-Possession of Methamphetamine
3-Felony Warrants
2-Possession of Burglary Tools
1-Misdemeanor Warrant
1-Resisting Arrest
1-Possession of Stolen Property
1-Prowling/Vehicle Tampering case filed with District Attorney
1-Misappropriation of Found Property
This operation was in direct response to the on-going high numbers of theft and burglaries the City of Chico is experiencing in recent months.
