UPDATE: 4:41 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 - After a lengthy investigation, Chico Police announced they arrested a suspect for the shooting that occurred May 13 on a bike path in the area of Rio Lindo Avenue.
A 17-year-old teenager from Chico was arrested and found to be in possession of an "illegal AR platform pistol," according to the police.
The suspect was booked into the Butte County Juvenile Hall on attempted murder and weapons charges, according to the police. The suspect and victim did not know each other. Police said the investigation determined there was no motive to the shooting.
The victim shot remains in serious but stable condition in a local hospital.

CHICO, Calif. - Police are investigating a shooting in north Chico where they say one person has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers told Action News Now it happened around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13. The victim was shot on the bike path just off of Rio Lindo Ave.
There has not been an arrest but officials say they are continuing to look for the male suspect. Witnesses in the area said they saw a black man running from the area just after the shots were heard. He was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and black sweatpants.
Police said the victim was transported to Enloe Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A few days later, The Pour House, a restaurant in Chico, confirmed the victim shot at was Sam Stuckrath. He is known to be a long-time employee of the restaurant.
Witnesses in the area said they saw a black man running from the area just after the shots were heard. He was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and black sweatpants.
