CHICO, Calif. - Chico Police Department cleared out another homeless camp in Lower Bidwell Park on Tuesday.

Crews cleaned areas of Lower Bidwell Park along Vallombrosa Ave.

Chico police said City Council and City Management told them to start cleaning at Highway 99 and worked their way through the park.

“We’ve been tasked with enforcing the regulation in the area at the direction of City Council and City Management,” Michelle Walker with Chico Police said. “Today we started at the 99 and we are slowly moving through the park to go ahead and move out those encampments.”

On Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 a 72-hour notice reached 54 tents and 21 people.

As of Tuesday afternoon, in the area around Highway 99 to Crister Ave and Lilac Av, Chico Police Department cleaned up about three tents.

Chico Police said they expect the cleanup to take all week.
