CHICO, Calif. - A woman stole a shopping cart from Rite Aid then threatened to stab an employee when confronted, according to Chico Police.

Around 5 p.m. on Mangrove Avenue, police said the woman tried to take a shopping cart from store property.

A store employee contacted the woman and said that she charged at the employee with a knife and threatened to kill the employee. The woman then ran away southbound on Mangrove Ave.

Several officers circled the area, and police said they discovered a woman matching her description at a transient camp near the Horseshoe Pits in Lower Bidwell Park.

The victim identified the woman as 67-year-old Cora Reith, police said. She was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal threats, and booked into the Butte County Jail.
