Chico, Calif.-- Chico Police say they arrested an armed teen for stealing Mother's Day presents from his neighbors.
Police say it started just before midnight on Friday. Residents on Admiral Lane in Chico reported a theft from a parked car. Several items were reportedly stolen, including Mother's Day presents.
An hour and a half later, on Saturday, resident called police again about a suspicious person taking a box from a neighbor's home. Chico Police say when they arrived, the boy took off running.
Police say an officer tripped the 16-year old, and other officers tackled him to the ground. He was eventually handcuffed, and identified as a 16-year old who lives in the neighborhood. Police say he had a loaded .40 caliber handgun stuffed inside his pants. They say they also found narcotics and a large quantity of cash on him.
Police say they were able to return the Mother's Day gifts to the victims.
The 16-year old boy was found to be on probation, wearing an ankle monitor, and had recently been released from juvenile hall. Chico Police say he returned to juvenile hall on several felony charges.
