A Chico man is in jail after police said he stole some merchandise from a local sporting goods store and fought employees trying to stop him.
Chico Police say 33-year-old Johnathan Gonzalez entered the Chico Sports LTD, located at 698 Mangrove Ave, around 11 a.m. Monday morning, grabbed a pair of shoes and attempted to walk out without paying.

Light scattered showers are on tap for the start of your Thursday, and I'm tracking heavier rain ahead from Thursday afternoon through mid day Friday. We'll have a lull in our wet pattern late Friday through early Saturday, but even heavier rain and snow will return this weekend and persist into next week. Major travel impacts will be possible across northern California from this wet weather.
