Chico Police Seeking Info on Two Sunday Morning Shootings

Two shooting incidents occurred in Chico early Sunday morning. One was near the CSU campus and the other in the Chapmantown neighborhood.

CHICO, Calif. - There were two shooting incidents reported in Chico early Sunday morning. Chico Police are looking for citizens to come forward who know anything about either of these crimes.

FIRST SHOOTING NEAR CSU CAMPUS ON WARNER STREET

At 12:45 a.m. Sunday a pedestrian walking on the Warner Street sidewalk near Chico State's Acker Gymnasium was shot. The wound was not life-threatening. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound.

Witnesses told police multiple suspects drove southbound in a dark-colored sedan before slowing to verbally contact the victim. They told police they saw one of the suspects shot at the victim with a firearm. They could not be specific in describing the firearm, according to police. The witnesses told police they fled in their vehicle to the south before any officers arrived at the scene.

The suspects are described as being black or Pacific Islander male adults.

SECOND SHOOTING IN CHAPMANTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD ON B STREET

At 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning there were several reports to the Chico Police Department about a shooting into a home on the 1500 block of B Street.

Several people were inside the house at the time of the shooting incident.

Officers discovered multiple bullet strikes in the front of the home but said no one was hurt during the incident.

Witnesses reporting hearing shots and hearing the suspect flee on foot. Police did an extensive check of the area near Davis Street and E. 16th Street near the Dorothy F. Johnson Center and Park.

Police currently have no suspects. They are requesting anyone with information about the shooting to call them at (530) 897-4900.
