Chico, Calif. --

Chico Police are searching for a man suspected of assaulted two people in Chico City Plaza early Tuesday Morning.

Police say it happened in the area of 401 Broadway Street in Downtown Chico at 3:08 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived to the scene, they contacted two victims. The first victim said the suspect hit him with an alcohol bottle without provocation. The second victim said he tried to intervene, and was pushed to the ground, kicked and then hit with a set of bicycle handbars on his head and arm.

Officers say the victims identified the suspect, who then fled before police could arrest him. Police say witnesses say the argument was centered around the usage of power outlets in the City Plaza.

The victims were treated at scene by Butte County EMS and Chico Fire Department for non-life threatening injuries. They were not transported to a hospital for treatment.

Chico Police say the suspect is described as a heavy-set Hispanic male adult, approximately early 20s, with dark hair. Police say he was last observed wearing a green coat, jeans, and a backpack. His first name may be "William."
