Chico Parade of Lights: Street closures

The City of Chico is permitting the closure of several streets in Downtown Chico on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. for the Chico Parade of Lights.

CHICO, Calif. - The City of Chico is permitting the closure of several streets in Downtown Chico on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. for the Chico Parade of Lights.

Both Main Street and Broadway will be closed from the south side of Second Street to the north side of Seventh Street. Hazel, Chestnut, Normal and Salem Streets will be closed from the north side of Fifth Street to the south side of Second Street.

Third and Fourth streets will also be closed from the east side of Ivy street to the west side of Wall Street, and Fifth and Sixth Streets will be closed from the east side of Salem Street to the west side of Wall Street.

All streets will be reopened by 11 p.m. on Saturday.

This year is the 30th annual Chico Parade of Lights, the parade is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday in downtown Chico.

The theme this year is "Move to the Music!," they will have a pre-parade event starting at 6 p.m. near the downtown plaza including tricycle races, bed races, handcycle challenges and more.

Light scattered showers are on tap for the start of your Thursday, and I'm tracking heavier rain ahead from Thursday afternoon through mid day Friday. We'll have a lull in our wet pattern late Friday through early Saturday, but even heavier rain and snow will return this weekend and persist into next week.
