CHICO, Calif. - Officials with the Chico Mall announced on Friday that they are planning to reopen on Wednesday, May 13.

Butte County announced Friday that most businesses will be allowed to reopen with safety guidelines relative to COVID-19 to be followed.

Butte County has relatively low COVID-19 numbers which are currently at 18 confirmed cases with zero deaths and 17 released from isolation.

Chico Mall officials say that based on the huge demand for the goods and services of their stores, their tentative hours will be:

Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

They say that in addition to the reopening they will be working on opening three new businesses to the Chico Mall:

HomeGoods is joining its list of popular tenants and will be starting construction in the coming weeks.

H&M will be completing construction and preparing for its grand opening.

Planet Fitness is on track to finish construction and open soon.

They say new leasing announcements will be made in the near future

Officials say they are also rebranding the center from Chico Mall to Chico Marketplace and the rebranding is consistent with their future retail opportunities and remodeling of the property as well

Plans are also in place for the installation of a brand-new 57-foot-tall pylon sign advertising Chico Marketplace and their tenants to travelers along the Highway 99 corridor.

They say they are in negotiation with five larger national tenants who will be great additions to the Chico Marketplace and will significantly benefit the Chico community.

Officials say they should be able to announce these new tenants in the next 1-2 months.

A cold front has moved over northern California on this day before Thanksgiving, and it brought light rain and snow showers to the higher terrain, gusty wind and cooler air for all. Thanksgiving will still be breezy, but also mild and pleasant.
