CHICO, Calif. – Chico police arrested a man after conducting a traffic stop with the help of K-9 Odin on Sunday evening.
Police said the traffic stop happened near the intersection of Pillsbury Road and Cohasset Road at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday.
The driver was identified as 21-year-old Kyle Silva-Larva of Chico.
K-9 Odin performed a scent search on the outside of Larva’s vehicle. Odin detected the presence of narcotic odor inside the vehicle, police said.
After the scent search, officers located the following items inside the car: 93 Oxycodone pills, 15 hydrocodone pills, 325.09 gross grams of Marijuana, a loaded 9mm handgun, a digital scale, and suspected narcotic packing materials, police said.
Silva-Larva was arrested for possession of Narcotics for Sale, Possessing a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, Transportation of Narcotics and Possession of a Loaded Firearm.
He was transported to the Butte County Jail.
K-9 Odin is a dual purpose canine, he’s used for patrol and narcotics detection, police said.
