Chico K-9 Odin assists officers in narcotics arrest

A Chico man was arrested after Chico K-9 Odin assisted officers during a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

CHICO, Calif. – A Chico man was arrested after Chico K-9 Odin assisted officers during a traffic stop around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said they made the traffic stop on a vehicle at the Rodeway Inn, located at 1717 Park Avenue. The driver was identified as 31-year-old Ben Jacobino.

During the traffic stop, the officer requested assistance from the K-9 unit. K-9 Odin performed a scent search on the outside of the vehicle.

The search revealed 69.8 grams of heroin, narcotic paraphernalia, a loaded firearm magazine, and an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the police.

Jacoboni was arrested and booked in the Butte County Jail.

All K-9's working for the Chico Police Department are dual-purpose teams, used for patrol and narcotics detection.
