CHICO, Calif. - One Chico High Graduate got a surprise from the Red Bluff Police Department on Thursday night after he received his diploma.

Luke Mobilio's father, David, was an officer for the Red Bluff Police Department when he was shot and killed in 2002 while filling his gas tank on duty. Luke was only 19-months old at the time.

At Luke's graduation on June 6, Red Bluff Officers lined the graduate's walk and each gave him a hug after he had received his diploma.

In a post on the Department's Facebook page, they say Luke is "a true example of [his] father’s legacy living on."

Officer Mobilio was the first officer ever to be killed in the line of duty in the Red Bluff Police Department.
