BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Chico firefighters received a special surprise from around 400 local students Wednesday in the form of a thank you.

Students at Little Chico Creek Elementary wanted to do something to thank firefighters for all their hard work after the Camp Fire.

Kids from first to fifth grade prepared unique gifts for the firefighters including stockings, books and even a giant "thank you" sign.

The firefighters said that they loved the surprise but had to leave early to respond to an emergency.

Students were also presented good citizenship awards for being helpful.
