OROVILLE, Calif. - Butte CAL FIRE responded to a call made at 11:29 p.m. on Saturday in Oroville. A home located on the 3000 block of Oro Bangor Hwy. had caught on fire from the inside and flames could be seen out of a broken window in the front of the house.
As the firefighters began to hose down the house, the residents said that their two dogs were still inside. An Oroville firetruck arrived and entered the house, navigated the heavy smoke, located and rescued both dogs.
The pets were taken outside where a third engine company arrived, found them unresponsive and began resuscitating them. After minutes of breathing treatment, both dogs started breathing on their own and were taken by the owners to a local veterinarian.
Firefighters soon after contained the fire to the main living room. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
