Chico, Calif. – A Chico-based meal preparation and delivery service is stepping in to help those at higher risk for covid-19 to stay at home and eat healthy.
My Oven’s Meals is working with Butte County as one of the restaurant vendors preparing three meals a day, seven days a week, for distribution as part of the Great Plates Delivered program.
It’s an initiative from the state to assist those in need during the coronavirus pandemic and stay-at-home orders.
The Chico-based business regularly makes pre-prepared meals for customers, using as much locally sourced product as possible.
Owner Mary Chin has been in business for three years. She says being accepted as a vendor the Great Plates Delivered program is in line with her goals of providing healthy, local and fresh meals. She says her services are serving two purposes: helping those who need healthy meals and local farmers who currently are not sourcing to restaurants which are closed.
Chin and her three employees begin preparing meals early in the day, pack trays and load up for delivery the next day, with meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Great Plates Delivered program is entering the third week in Butte County. So far, there are 76 customers signed up for food delivery.
