Chico State Presents ‘A Grand Night for Singing’

California State University Chico’s Musical Theatre Ensemble will present Tony Award nominated musical, ‘A Grand Night for Singing’.

Chico Calif.—California State University Chico’s Musical Theatre Ensemble will present Tony Award nominated musical, ‘A Grand Night for Singing’.

The performances will take place Friday, April 6th at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 7th at 2 p.m. in the Rowland-Taylor Recital Hall located in the Performing Arts Center, room 134, on CSU Chico’s campus.

The event is free and open to the public.

The musical revue showcases the work of Rogers and Hammerstein, with standards from musicals such as Oaklahoma, Carousel, and South Pacific.

A Grand Night for Singing made its debut as a cabaret-style performance at Rainbow and Stars, on top of Rockefeller Center, and then was performed on Broadway opening in 1993 and running 52 performances.

The revue was nominated for two Tony Awards, Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revue.

It took a few hours, but the sun broke through the clouds over most of northern California Tuesday afternoon. The low clouds, fog and light rain showers return to the valley Wednesday, with snowy weather in the mountains.
