COTTONWOOD, Calif.—On Wednesday May 23rd around 10 a.m. deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Cottonwood area to attempt to contact Zachary Lance Gibbins who was wanted for numerous crimes by the Anderson Police Department.
Gibbins was wanted for elder abuse, robbery, burglary, and domestic violence charges.
A description was provided of the vehicle as well as a possible area of Gas Point Road and Clear Creek Road that he could be located.
Gibbins was reportedly armed with two guns and suicidal.
Deputies responded and began checking the area for Gibbins and located a car associated near the intersection of Cox Road and Foster Road near the Igo Ono area.
Before approaching the car deputies saw a man lying down inside the car.
The man was later identified as Gibbins.
Gibbins refused to exit after deputies requested him to do so.
An armored vehicle was summoned to the scene and a chemical agent was deployed into Gibbins car.
Gibbins immediately exited the car where he was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Deputies searched the car and found a rifle and a handgun.
Gibbins was booked into the Shasta County Jail on the aforementioned Anderson Police Department charges.
A charge of resisting arrest will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.
