CHICO, Calif - As the old saying goes strength definitely comes in numbers and dozens of volunteers woke up bright and early on Saturday to help beautify Chapmantown.

Residents of Chapmantown came as early as 7 a.m. to the Chapman Elementary School parking lot, where they could bring debris, furniture, garbage, bikes and even dead batteries.

This event has been done every year since 2012, front-end loaders from Butte County were even on hand to help out.

This was all made possible by the “Love Chapman Town Community Coalition.”

The founder says it’s all about being part of the solution.

“Our whole mission in a whole is to plant seeds of hope and love into this community,” said Vince Haynie, founder of “Love Chapmantown Community Coalition.”

“I’m just happy that the community is out there and they want to improve to and it’s not just the members of the coalition that want to improve it’s also the community that wants to improve too,” said Alaxandra Hajek, a Chico State student volunteer.

This ended at noon on Saturday, but if you missed it the next event held by the coalition is a free health fair on April 28 from noon to 4 p.m.

Enloe Medical Center will help provide health care exhibits, community resource displays and fun health games.
