GRIDLEY, Calif. - The owner of the Casa Lupe Market in Gridley said an employee has tested positive for COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, he has closed the doors to keep the community safe.
Market owner Mariano De La Torre said after the employee explained his symptoms to him on May 24, the employee got tested that same day.
Two days later on May 26, the employee received positive coronavirus test results.
De La Torre told Action News Now out of precaution for everybody, both employees and customers, he closed the market under his own discretion and encouraged all of his employees to get tested. So far about 25 have done so.

As far when the market could reopen, De La Torre said once the results come back, with the hope they are negative, he could be reopened by May 29 or 30.
The employee was only in the market and not in the factory or distribution area.
Action News Now reached out to Butte County Public Health to see if this case has been confirmed through its department but health officials would not confirm saying they do not share any personal information.
