UPDATE 11:32 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 - The fire is 17 acres in size. Overnight firefighters completed placed hose lines around the perimeter of the fire. Aerial resources are on the way, including Helicopter 506 from the Trinity Air Attack Base and an air attack from Redding.
Shasta-Trinity National Forest Public Information Officer Josef Orosz says they have not been able the cause of the fire and so far have not identified an ignition source.
The fire is burning in a timbered area on the west side of Trinity Lake. No structures are threatened by this fire.

UPDATE 9:54 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 - The Captain Fire is now 10-12 acres in size. No structures are threatened. Three fire engines and two hand crews are working on efforts to establish a line around the fire. They describe the area as heavy timber with snags located in the fire area. Air attack and a Helo 506 are on the way to the fire area to help those fighting from the ground.

TRINITY LAKE, Calif. - Firefighters are responding to a fire near Captain's Point of Trinity Lake.
The fire sparked late in the evening on Thursday.
The National Forest Service estimates that the fire is about 3-5 acres in size.
At this time the fire does not threaten any structures.
