OLIVEHURST, Calif. - A family of Camp Fire survivors are the first to set foot in the only transitional housing complex in the region, said The Salvation Army.

The Hope Vista housing complex is located in Olivehurst, which is southeast of Yuba City.

The Salvation Army welcomed Lelia Eastman and her three sons into their new home on Sunday afternoon.

The mother said, “I haven’t had my own room since the fire happened.”

The family of four was able to move in just in time, before the holidays, because the transitional living homes were finished ahead of schedule.

The new complex is a part of The Salvation Army’s Long-Term Recovery Program for wildfire survivors.

The homes will house Camp Fire survivors for 12-18 months, and will then be opened to other families who need help getting back on their feet.
