Fatal Crash Victim in Glenn County Identified

Orland, Calif.—The Glenn County Sheriff Coroner has released the identity of the person killed in the accident Wednesday morning at County Road 9 and Sixth Avenue as 55 year old Enrique Ramirez Sanchez of Corning.

An autopsy will be performed later in the week to determine the cause of death.

Orland, Calif.—According to CHP just before 6 a.m. Wednesday morning Craig Simons, 27 years old from Orland was driving his GMC westbound on County Road 9 just east of Sixth Avenue at approximately 55 miles per hour.

Another person whose identity has not been released yet was driving a Ford Ranger south on Sixth Avenue just north of County Road 9 at under 55 miles per hour.

The Ford Ranger entered the intersection of Sixth Avenue at County Road 9 directly in the path of the GMC.

Simons applied the brakes on his vehicle, and turned to the left however was not able to avoid colliding with the Ford.

Simons in the GMC traveled in a westerly direction where it came to rest on its wheels facing south west just south of the intersection.

The Ford Ranger traveled in a westerly direction where it came to rest on its wheels facing north east just west of the intersection.

The person driving the Ford Ranger was ejected to the eastbound lane of County Road 9.

CHP told Action News Now he was not wearing his seatbelt.

His identity is not being released at this time.

The California Highway Patrol is responding to a fatal crash in Glenn County.

According to the CHP, the crash happened around 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 9 and County road 202. Authorities say the crash was between two cars and that one person has died.
