CHICO, Calif.-With unemployment numbers rising across the state, people need help navigating through these tough times.
The Employment and Social Services office is still helping with CalFresh applications.
If you want to apply you can drop-off your application in person or apply online.
One man told Action News Now, the process is pretty easy and convenient.
"I'm not really savvy with computers so it's nice I can come in here to get help," said Chico Resident Dean Wisely.
He says he's been recieving his CalFresh benefits quickly.
Office workers say they've seen a dramatic increase in applications since the coronavirus.
Senator Jim Nielsen says, "It obviously puts a demand on all of our help resources, which includes CalFresh. Right now we are doing OK but if it prolongs we are going to be in a crisis, that's for sure."
He says the state is working to quickly process EDD claims and CalFresh Applications.
Senator Nielsen says the key would be to balance public health concerns with opening up the economy in a safe manner.
The Unemployment and Social Services Office is located at 765 East Avenue and it's open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
