CHICO, Calif. - Get your rollerblades ready because one local skating rink is opening back up!
General Manager of Cal Skate, Scott Andrews says their outdoor attractions have been open since mid-May but their skating rink has remained closed.
Bryce Jagoe is the DJ at Cal Skate, he says he has a playlist ready for the crowd on Friday.
"I assume a lot of people would want to come back and come skate because everything's been so closed up lately that when they find out something is back open they will want to come skate," said Jagoe.
Cal Skate will have games like air hockey and tables all spaced out to follow new safety guidelines.
"We've had lots of time to get things clean up," Andrews said. "We got the carpets clean, everything clean and sanitized from top to bottom, we're going to run out of things to clean essentially."
As cleaning protocols have changed so have their events like parties.
"We're going to wait on birthday parties," said Andrews. "I don't think we have the clearance to do that yet, we have plans in place once we get the clearance to do birthday parties."
When parties do happen again, Andrews said they use to use an accordion divider to help split the room into two parties but now they're going to keep it open so that people will remain six feet apart.
"The whole idea is to have more room more space, less of a confined ontop of each other kind of feel," said Andrews.
Mostly all of Andrews staff is back at work. Several of them told Action News Now they were excited to be back together working.
Cal Skate will be limiting its capacity by 30% to 50%.
They are hoping everything will run smoothly so they can run the normal summer schedule.
