UPDATE 12:15 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 - The Meridian Fire remains at 50 acres and is now 95 percent contained.

UPDATE 4:50 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 - The Meridian Fire remains at 50 acres and is now 90 percent contained.

UPDATE 12:23 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 - CAL FIRE crews said the Meridian Fire, burning north of Chico, has burned 50 acres and is now 80 percent contained.

UPDATE: 5:38 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 - CAL FIRE crews worked overnight to try to contain the Meridian Fire. It is now 50 acres and 50 percent contained.

Flames sparked around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on Munjar Road north of Chico.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Butte County Cal Fire is on the scene of a 10-acre vegetation fire North of Chico. Cal Fire says it is burning grass and oak woodland off Munjar Road. Crews are calling this the Meridian Fire.
