Officials Identify Man Killed in Palermo House Fire

The Butte County Sheriff's Office has identified the man killed in a house fire in Palermo on Monday, as well as his dog.

UPDATE 3:31 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 - The Butte County Sheriff's Office has released the identity of the man killed in a house fire in Palermo on Monday. 

The victim has been identified as Michael Renwick, 63, of Palermo. 

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the house was fully engulfed in flames and Renwick was trapped inside. They worked for more than an hour to extinguish the flames. 

Neighbors say that Renwick had mobility issues. A dog was also killed by the fire. There is no official word on the cause of the fire yet.

UPDATE 3:09 p.m. Monday,  Dec. 3, 2018 - Cal Fire said that firefighters are continuing to work on extinguishing the fire. They have located a victim and requested the Sheriff-Coroner.

PALERMO, Calif. - Cal Fire firefighters are responding to a structure fire in Palermo that has a victim trapped inside.

At around 2:33 p.m., Cal Fire tweeted that firefighters were battling a structure fire near Lower Wyandotte Road and Palermo Road in Palermo, south of Oroville. 

According to officials, a home is fully involved in the fire and is trapping someone inside. Firefighters are attempting to make a rescue. 

They are working to extinguish the fire and search for possible victims.
