BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – A man was arrested Tuesday after admitting that he allegedly started several fires over a series of years, according to Cal Fire.

CHP first reported a fire in the community of Oregon Gulch Tuesday at 3:32 a.m. Firefighters arrived and found an RV trailer fully involved in fire and spreading to surrounding vegetation on the property located at the south end of View Lane, Cal Fire said.

32-year-old Carlos Yanez was found near the fire origin area, sleeping near a quad ATV. The tires on the ATV matched the fresh marks seen at the fire origin.

Yanez was interviewed and admitted to starting the fire and said he allegedly started additional fires over a series of years, according to Cal Fire.

His statements are being investigated by Cal Fire and the case will remain ongoing.

Yanez was arrested and transported to the Butte County Jail.
