CHICO, CALIF. - A standout volleyball player at Chico High School signed to play at the next level Friday.

Emily Borgman signed with Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona, where she will be part of the Roughrider Family.

Brandon Kessler, the Assistant Principal in charge of Athletics, says Borgman has been a starter and team captain for both Chico High School and the Chico Matrix 17's Volleyball Club.

In 2019 Borgman earned Eastern Athletic-Sac River All-League while helping her team finish second in the EAL.  She also held a 4.0 GPA in 2017, 2018, and 2019 and belongs to several school clubs.

Borgman plans to study nursing and said she chose Yavapai College because they made her feel welcome, and she heard nothing but good things about the coach there.
