UPDATE 10:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 31 - The Shasta County Sheriff's Office said they have identified the man who died Saturday after his vehicle rolled down an embankment on Highway 299 near Sugar Pine Camp Road in Bella Vista.
43-year-old Tilak Madhukar Baviskar of Yuba City, California was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on Saturday, March 28, according to deputies.
This case remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
BELLA VISTA, Calif. - California Highway Patrol officials confirmed one man is dead after his vehicle rolled down an embankment on Highway 299 near Sugar Pine Camp Road in Bella Vista.
Officials say this all occurred on Saturday, March 28 at approximately 6 p.m. when CHP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 99 east of Sugar Pine Camp Road in Shasta County.
CHP says the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, traveled across the opposing lane and collided with a tree down the embankment.
Officials say the driver was wearing his seatbelt but succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
There were no passengers and impairment is unknown pending the Coroners report.
This collision is still currently under investigation.
