BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Police confirmed the rider killed in a deadly motorcycle crash near Inskip is 54-year-old Michael Endres who had been missing out of Paradise since Monday.
A friend of Endres reported to the Paradise Police Department that Endres had left to go ride his motorcycle to the Inskip area. However, Endres never returned from his ride as planned.
The Paradise Police Department initiated an investigation. The Butte County Sheriff's Office assisted by checking Skyway to Inskip, but were unsuccessful. On Tuesday, Paradise Police continued the investigation and based on Endres' phone records, requested the CHP to search the area from Skyway to Highway 32 from the air. However, Endres was not located during the CHP search.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation again Thursday by conducting a more focused search from the air of the route that Endres told his friend he intended to follow. Around 9 a.m., BCSO helicopter located a man down, off Skyway, above Humbug Summit Road. The helicopter landed nearby and determined the man had been riding a motorcycle that was down in the trees.
Paradise Police Officers said they came on scene and confirmed the man was Michael Endres. The CHP responded and investigated the motorcycle accident. BCSO conducted the initial coroner's investigation, according to the police report.
Officers said at this time, foul play, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this case.
