Updated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 - According to the Butte County Sheriff's Office, the man who was killed after a hit-and-run collision on Highway 99 Thursday night has been identified as 49-year-old Brandon Hicks of Chico.
CHICO, Calif. - Highway 99 was closed for nearly four hours on Thursday, Jan. 14 after California Highway Patrol investigators say a man was struck and killed by a car.
It happened around 7 p.m. just north of Meridian Road in Chico.
Investigators say the man was walking along the east side of the roadway and was not visible to drivers. It's not clear how he ended up in the path of the car that struck him.
Highway 99 was closed in both directions while officers investigated.
