WILLOWS, Calif. – The CHP said they arrested a Chico woman for DUI after causing a collision on Highway 162 west of County Road FF, Wednesday afternoon.

A Chevy Sedan was driving eastbound on Highway 162, approaching a Ford pickup traveling westbound. The Sedan made an unsafe turn and her vehicle drifted into the opposing lane, directly into the path of the Ford pickup, according to the CHP.

Due to this, the Ford pickup overturned and stopped in the road. The Sedan stopped on the north side of the road and collided into a utility pole. Willows CHP, Tracy Hoover said the Ford pickup was a state vehicle for the CDC.

The driver of the Chevy was identified as 53-year-old Sharon Pelagio, of Chico, the Ford driver was identified as 42-year-old Kieth Silva, of Sparks, Nevada, according to the CHP. Both were transported to local hospitals.

The CHP said Pelagio was determined to have caused the collision and arrested for suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
