REDDING, Calif. - Redding CHP said a Fresno truck driver died on I-5 after being hit by passing traffic while outside of his truck on May 25.
The call came in at 4 a.m. on Monday morning with callers saying a big rig was stopped in the southbound lanes of the interstate.
Before CHP officers arrived, they say they were told by Anderson Police there was a body in the southbound lanes.
In an early investigation, CHP shared it appears the 55-year-old big-rig driver was involved in a minor collision with the guardrail and, while out of his truck, was hit by passing traffic.
CHP said it is continuing the investigation and anyone who has any information regarding the collision is asked to call the Redding office at 530-225-0500.
