SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Three people were caught on camera stealing a valuable shark from the San Antonio Aquarium on July 30.
Surveillance footage showed a man reaching into the shallow shark tank and pulling a 16-inch Grey-Horned Shark out with his bare hands. Another man followed behind carrying what looked like a bag with the shark inside.
Moments later, the two men re-appear and with the help of a woman conceal the shark in a stroller and roll it away past surveillance cameras.
Aquarium employees followed the suspects out of the aquarium and to their car following a trail of water. Employees reported the suspects' truck to the police.
Authorities were able to track down the animal after seeing a photo of the Grey-Horned Shark on a San Antonio Facebook page asking $300 for it.
CBS KENS Channel 5 in San Antonio reported that two people confessed to stealing the shark. It’s estimated to be worth about $2,000.
The shark was returned safely to the San Antonio Aquarium and is likely to make a full recover
