House Fire near Whiskeytown now 85% contained

The House Incident that is burning near the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area has been 85% contained, according to CAL FIRE.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The House Fire is now 85% contained as the fire has burned 60 acres, according to CAL FIRE.

The fire started near the boundary of the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area at Highway 299 and Tollhouse Rd. on Wednesday.

The fire spread east into the park and was taken out with a swift and aggressive approach by firefighters.

Park staff and CAL FIRE said they continue monitoring the area and maintaining crews on the ground. 

The Visitors Center and Park Headquarters have reopened but recreational access to East Beach and other pullouts on the east remain closed for now.
