BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - People in Butte County got a chance to meet some candidates for the upcoming primary in a very unique way.
The League of Women Voters of Butte County hosted a speed dating session over the weekend. Organizers said the event was the first of its kind.
The roundtable open house took place at Chico High School. Organizers called it an opportunity for voters to bring their questions directly to the candidates.
"I think the League of Women's Voters is doing a service to Butte County," Director of League of Women Voters, Carol Burr said. "We are all in this together. We have some really big issues affecting Butte County right now so we all need to be educated."
The focus of the discussion was public safety. Six candidates came out to meet voters and about 50 people attended the event.
