The 31st Annual Butte County Toy Run is set for Saturday, December 1st rain or shine.
It's a Toy Drive and fundraiser to support 100's of children in foster care who otherwise might not receive presents or have the clothing they need.
Traditionally the motorcycle ride has travelled from Chico through the backroads of Butte County to Magalia. But the route has changed this year due to impacts from the Camp Fire.
This year riders will meet up at and leave from Sierra Steel Harley Davidson at Mangrove and 5th Avenue in Chico. They will travel to Ord Bend Park and back again, with food and beverages at the end of the ride. There will be two group-led departures ... one at 9:30 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m. Or, riders can also go at their own pace.
A toy donation gets you included in the ride, but whether you plan to ride a motorcycle or not... you can drop toys off at Sierra Steele Harley Davidson. Gift cards and cash donations are also welcome. The money not only provides Christmas gifts, but also clothing and other unmet needs like fees to take part in sports teams. Organizers say because of the Camp Fire many children and foster families have lost everything and been displaced, so the need is greater than ever.
