BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The sheriff's office is warning people living in Butte County of a new phone scam.

Deputies say they are receiving reports of people receiving a call from someone identifying themselves as Sergeant Mike Davis. The caller tells the person they have a warrant out for their arrest.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office said they do not have a Sergeant Mike Davis working with the department. They also said they would never call someone to advise them of a warrant.

If anyone receives this call, the sheriff's office says to hang up because it is a scam.
