OROVILLE, Calif. - An Oroville man has been arrested in connection to the murder of his father on Thursday afternoon, Butte County Sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office received a call at about 12:36 p.m. when the caller said her son had murdered her husband.

When deputies responded to the 5000 block of Ve Ave. in Oroville, they detained the caller's son, 28-year-old Tyler Anderson of Oroville.

Medical personnel and deputies entered the residence and found 63-year-old Jerry Anderson of Oroville. He was pronounced dead and appeared to have suffered a traumatic head wound.

During the investigation, detectives determined Tyler was Jerry's son. Detectives gathered evidence and information showing Tyler was responsible for Jerry's death.

Tyler was booked into the Butte County Jail on an open count of murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and Butte County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about this case to call detectives at (530) 538-7671.
