BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - 84-year-old Barbara Olmstead has been missing since the first week of September and the Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding her.

The Sheriff's Office says on September 6, Deputies received a report that Olmstead of Chico was missing. Through investigation, it is suspected she is with 55-year-old Rebekah Vierow of North Highlands who is Olmstead's niece.

Investigators say they spoke with a woman who verbally identified herself as Olmstead on September 10 at which time she was supposed to contact local CHP so her name would be removed from the missing person system.

As of September 17, Olmstead has not been located and all phone numbers for Olmstead and Vierow are no longer working.

The Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating the two women.

Olmstead and Vierow are suspected to have been in the area of Modesto and Fresno within the last week but their current whereabouts are unknown.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Jake Smith at the Butte County Sheriff's Office at 538-7321.
