CHICO, Calif. – On Tuesday, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 69-year-old Paul Vigil, of Chico, for possession of child pornography.
The arrest is the culmination of an investigation that began in August 2019, deputies said. On Nov. 26, BCSO Detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of W. 1st Avenue, Chico.
Computers and other electronic devices were located during the service of the search warrant, deputies said. After deputies conducted an initial search of the devices, they confirmed Vigil was in possession of child pornography.
Later, detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and processed the evidence located during the search warrant. Located on Vigil's computers were more than 600 images of child pornography.
Detectives said they believe all of the child pornography was downloaded from the internet.
On Nov. 27, Detectives arrested Vigil, he was booked into the Butte County Jail for the following charges: one felony count of possession of child pornography, and one felony count of possessing more than 600 images of child pornography.
