GRIDLEY, Calif. – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 40-year-old Christopher McBride, of Gridley, who had over 600 images of child pornography.

The arrest is the culmination of an investigation that began in August 2019, detectives said. On Nov. 25, Detectives and Designated Area Deputies served a search warrant at a residence in Gridley.

Computers and other electronic devices were located during the service of the search warrant. An initial search of the devices confirmed McBride was in possession of child pornography, detectives said.

Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and processed the evidence located during the search warrant. Detectives located large amounts of child pornography on McBride’s electronic devices.

Detectives said they believe all of the child pornography was downloaded from the internet.

On Nov. 25, McBride was booked into the Butte County Jail for the following charges: one felony count of possession of child pornography, one felony count of possessing more than 600 images of child pornography, and one felony count of possession of child pornography showing the intentional infliction of pain for purposes of sexual gratification.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with additional information to contact Detective Jason Miller at 530-538-7671.
