BUTTE COUNTY, Calif.—A report finds that the population in California is growing.

We are seeing it here in Butte County.

The report was published by the Department of Finance.

The report found that there was more than 309,000 people choosing to call California home.

Paradise was one of those communities that saw an increase in population.

More than 300 people moved to the ridge.

This may seem like a small number, but some say it has been noticeable.

Rich Colgin is the owner of Paradise Bikes on the Skyway.

He moved to Paradise eight years ago.

Rich said, “It's good for business, can't complain. I moved from the city so there's no such thing as a commute here even though I know a lot of people feel like there is. Sitting in 20 minutes in traffic as opposed to an hour and a half is a big difference."

Rich also commented on the cooler temperatures, saying that was more of a reason to move up on the ridge.

We head into the holiday weekend on a slightly cooler than average note, but that will change quickly on the 4th of July and on Sunday with more heat and stronger breezes coming.
